The SPAND Car Seat Pressure Sensor Pad detects the presence of an occupant on the seat using a pressure-sensitive layer made of polyester, aluminum foil, and foam.
When someone sits on the seat:
The sensor changes resistance (or capacitance) due to applied pressure.
This signal is sent to the vehicle’s control system.
If the seat is occupied and the seat belt is not fastened, the system triggers a warning light or buzzer to remind the passenger to buckle up.
When the passenger leaves the seat, the signal resets automatically.
